The
Casper Housing Authority provides decent, safe, affordable housing for
Casper's low-income citizens through programs that are funded and regulated by
the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development
Applicants must be citizens of the United States or lawfully admitted for permanent residence as an immigrant. Social Security cards are required and will be photocopied when you bring in your application. A Government issued ID is also required for individuals 18 and older.
Applicants complete an application for Housing Assistance in order to be
considered for assistance. An application may be picked up at the Casper Housing
Authority office during normal business hours.
You may bring in your compelted application and propoer identification back to our office during our normal business hours. Monday through Wednesday 12:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. and Thursday 12:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m.
HOW IS MY SHARE OF THE RENT CALCULATED?
Gross income from all applicable sources for all family members is used. Adjustments are made for dependent care, child-care costs, Senior Citizens, persons who are elderly or handicapped. Participants will pay 30%-40% of the monthly adjusted gross income for rent and utilities.

All preferences are verified with a third party source. SPECIAL NEED HOUSING LIFE STEPS Community in association with Casper Housing Authority operates an eight unit extension to
the Transitional Housing Program, that allows families to receive case management along with the Section 8 Assisted Housing. This program
allows families with children to rebuild their lives one step at a time. Funds are still needed to complete the Wilson Renovation Project and other facilities that serve the families
that live and receive the many specialized children services, for historic preservation items, fire safety improvements, and handicap
accessibility, as well as telephone, laundry and heating system improvements. Contributions are tax-deductible! VOLUNTEER POSITIONS ARE NEEDED IN A NUMBER OF PROGRAMS ON THE CAMPUS. CONTACT: 307-266-1388 For

HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT FOR ASSISTANCE?
Your application
is entered into our computer system as of the date and time you bring in your application. The waiting time varies with each individual's circumstances. The wait can be several weeks to a year or more, depending on the programs that you qualify for and the turnover activity within each program.
You may qualify for a local or federal preference, which can shorten your waiting time. Preferences include: Individuals who are elderly or have a disability.
